Grid Tie Inverter for Wind Generator
The grid tie inverter feeds a power grid by using the power generated by a wind generator. The wind turbine converters the mechanical energy from wind into the 3-phase AC voltage. The voltage and frequency of the AC generated by the wind are variable and depend on the wind speed. To be exported to the utility grid the power need to be converted to the frequency and voltage level of the grid. The grid tie inverter does this conversion
When used in parallel with the power grid, the alternating current generated by the inverter is directly fed to the domestic distribution circuit, which in turn is also connected to the public power distribution grid. The wind generator system can thus directly feed all the connected user electrical loads, such as lighting, computer and other household appliances, etc.
When the wind turbine is not generating sufficient energy, the power required to ensure proper operation of connected user loads is taken from the public power grid. While if the energy produced by the wind turbine exceeds load needs, it is directly fed to the grid, thus becoming available to other users’ loads
